Bill White’s Kaptain Keen is an impossibly large-jawed, clean-cut, generic super-hero accompanied by a silent moose sidekick in an alternate version of Bullwinkle and Dudley Doright. It’s the “and Kompany” bit of the title that’s the better strip, though, with Gary Fields’ cigar-smoking, heavy-drinking and copiously swearing porcine super-hero Superswine raising more smiles. White and Fields are both talented cartoonists, but it’s chuckles and grins to be found here rather than belly laughs. Superswine later had his own title. ~FP
