This is the 1st printing of SOTI, without the bibliographical note on pages 399 & 400. The bibliographical note featured comic publishers cited in the work, but these publishers forced Rinehart & Co. to remove the page. OVERSTREET NOTES: "With the release of this book, Dr. Wertham reveals seven years of research attempting to link juvenile delinquency to comic books. Many illustrations showing excessive violence, sex, sadism, and torture are shown." This book led to the creation of the Comics Code Authority."
