Every now & then, gotta find myself re-turning these gigantic pages in order to admire such an underrated, masterful national artistic treasure named Pepe González. So I eventually decided writing several lines about an incredibly gorgeous AE. My very 1STie, BTW. Vampirella won't EVER look any better than pencilled by José. He crafted kind of an icon. This XXL-sized AB captures his powerful B&W drawing in all its glory: inking work, raw stuff, shadows, annotations... You can truly appreciate how the strong visuals eclipse some naive written narrative, giving a more prurient (and adult) perspective thru his illustration style. Roach's precious intro deals with both, influence and legacy. As the Spanish author has been often imitated (but never duplicated). Thankfully, DYNAMITE selected a variety of remarkable issues to encapsulate his technique (as it evolved on nearly 160 pp). Highlights like "Return Trip" and "The Walker Of Worlds" are true gems regarding The 9th Art. #MyH📚LYGrail🥇
