Plot

Civil War: Part 2 continues the story of the turbulent events of 12th century Japan. The everyman Benta has become an unwilling samurai, witness to senseless killings and the replacement of one brutal regime with another even more so.

The volume culminates with "Robe of Feathers." Based on the Japanese fable Hagoromo-densetsu, this experimental short story dealing with the horrors of war is portrayed from one fixed angle as if it were enacted onstage and observed from audience seats.
