Once I (eventually) added this groundbreaking Sci-Fi MasterPiece to my C📚LLECTI🥳N, was TRULY eager to start reading that ERB's Martian Pulp Hero's Journey. Took great delight in my perusal, as the writer created a superb twilight experience which later inspired Bradbury, Clarke, Lucas & Roddenberry (to name a few). "Sword & Planet"™ at its VERY best. Sequenced in 28 solid chapters, Burroughs outlined a thorough, classic tale based on Fantastic Fiction patterns: a champion with some love interest, escaping from captivity driven by technologically seductive narrative. Hence this brilliant prose novel required the matching graphic artist in order to adorning such storytelling. Kaluta's illustrations are the icing on the cake regarding this Premium IDW edition: (larger than) AB-sized HC, with embossed f&b covers/spine, using superior grammage, old textured/faded pages, and chiefly nothing but pristine reproduction of Michael's drawings...
