Lina and Gourry arrive in Atlas City. About a half a year before, the chairman of the Sorcerer's Guild, Halciform the White, disappeared. This lead to a serious conflict between the two Vice Chairmen - Tarim the Violet and Daymiar the Blue (The colors in their names reflect the color of their robes. Lina is officially called Lina the Pink, but she hates the color.) Tarim and Daymiar are anxious that they will be attacked and/or killed, so they recruit a couple of bodyguards - Rod, a skillful swordsman, and Lantz, a mercenary. One night, a group of homunculus warriors and chimera wolves attack Tarim's home. Lina, Gourry, Rod, and Lantz fight back only to later fall victim to one of Daymiar's schemes. While trapped, Lina and Gourry find a man caught in an emerald at the bottom of the pool. Turns out, the man is Halcifom the White, who used Telepathy Magic to communicate with Lina, who ended up rescuing him from the emerald and the pool. Lina and Gourry are now suspicious of Tarim, who they think lied to them. The next day, Lantz, Lina, and Gourry find Daymiar who had been cursed and turned into a big chunk of meat. The curse not only changes man to meat, but also makes him immortal so that he will suffer in terrible pain the rest of his life. His only shot at death is if the curse is killed. Lina and Gourry suspect Tarim is at the bottom of this and go to his humble abode, only to find Tarim's headless body. Rod appears and tells them that he works for Halcifom, so Lina and Gourry go to hunt down Halcifom. When they get to his residence, they go to his basement and find the living head of Tarim who has studied eternal life. Tarim asks Lina to destroy Halcifom, but then the white sorcerer enters and destroyed the head of Tarim. Lina and Gourry leave the basement and find a woman, Rubia, Halciform's assistant, who helps them find a Contract Stone that if destroyed, would make Halcifom mortal. In the end, it's not the Contract Stone that sends Halcifom and his 'immortal' self to an early grave; but the Sword of Light, which Rubia uses to put the final fork in 'em.
