I’m not a manga fan. Truly I’ve only read Lone Wolf and Cub (masterful) and Harlem Beat/Rebound (a guilty pleasure and my introduction to the genre) and Fence. I picked this up because I liked the cover and I’ve always found fencing interesting albeit very uncool in school. This series is a liiiiiiittle too gay. But still interesting and emotional. That moment of the lead getting beaten and sitting on his bed crying in frustration/embarrassment and shame is pretty palpable, even if you haven’t felt it.
