themes: bullying, self harm, harmful thoughts, growing up, low self esteem, unrequited love, same sex teenager love some smut the story in this volume can be uncomfortable as it centers on one of the male character leads, who because of his speech difficulties is bullied through out his life. Getting to high school falls in love with one of his classmates and that starts a unrequited love situation, he seems to have found a way to “endure” the hard stuff in his live hanging into an idealization of this other person that could be seen as toxic but somehow works for him. It is definitely a complex self-toxic character and you quickly get invested on finding out how things will turn out for him.
