Argumento

Strongbow's wolf faces a dog-pet who has become feral after contracting rabies. The wolf wins the fight but is infected with the disease. The story is a bizarre tale and the elves struggle to attempt to understand the psychology of a sick animal suffering from an unknown disease, that rather than weakening its host, simply makes it more ferocious.

Strongbow himself contracts rabies "the howling disease", and the WolfRiders seek out a cure for both he and the wolf from Old Maggoty, a troll-witchdoctor.
