Argumento

This story is set in Sun Village when Suntop and Ember are not yet five years old. They cannot sleep and demand that Cutter tell them a help-sleep story:

In the tale, Skywise dares Cutter to climb up a cliff onto a ledge, where Cutter has his first encounter with humans. He meets a benevolent woman who feeds him, and then watches a giant man beat her. He stands up to him, and he chases him to the edge of the cliff, where he has no choice but to face his fear of heights, whereas the man pursues him and dies in a horrific fall.
